About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead and coordinate daily production activities
- Translate production priorities into clear work assignments, crew assignments, and expected results
- Manage production flow across material preparation, cutting, fit-up, welding, inspection, and completion
- Ensure work aligns with drawings, specifications, quality standards, and schedules
- Monitor workflow, productivity, staffing, equipment readiness, material availability, and operational priorities on the production floor
- Identify and resolve bottlenecks, downtime, material shortages, equipment issues, and staffing constraints
- Escalate unresolved production issues when necessary
- Set expectations for safety, quality, productivity, housekeeping, attendance, teamwork, and conduct
- Provide coaching and performance feedback
- Support onboarding, training, cross-training, and employee development
- Identify skill gaps and opportunities for increased responsibility
- Ensure compliance with safety, PPE, quality, equipment-care, documentation, and workplace-organization standards
- Conduct effective shift handovers and support continuous improvement activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in industrial manufacturing, pipe/spool fabrication, welding, or a comparable fabrication environment
- Demonstrated experience leading, directing, training, or coordinating employees in a manufacturing or production environment
- Strong working knowledge of pipe and spool fabrication processes, including cutting, fit-up, welding, dimensional verification, and inspection
- Ability to read and interpret spool drawings, isometric drawings, fabrication drawings, specifications, and work instructions
- Strong understanding of industrial safety, quality standards, housekeeping, equipment care, and production workflow
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills
- Ability to set priorities and hold employees accountable in a fair and respectful manner
- Basic computer proficiency
- Flexibility to work assigned shifts, overtime, Fridays, or weekends based on production needs
- Previous front-line leadership, stainless steel fabrication, employee training, or Lean/5S experience is preferred
