About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide strategic leadership on large Transport & Accessibility Planning projects, including DCOs and associated Examination/expert witness work
  • Build and develop Client relationships
  • Maintain and grow the existing project portfolio
  • Help the senior Transport & Accessibility Planning team grow and diversify its pipeline
  • Deliver high-quality project services and pragmatic transport solutions in collaboration with the management team
  • Lead large projects and DCOs, including Examination and expert witness support
  • Develop expertise in planning, development, and infrastructure processes
  • Coordinate and deliver Client Account Plans and manage Client relationships
  • Contribute to discipline, divisional, and regional meetings
  • Support growth of the Transport & Accessibility Planning team, wider Advisory division, and region
  • Act as Project Lead for multidisciplinary BWB teams in inward- and outward-facing capacities

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven project lead/co-ordinator experience across diverse Transport & Accessibility Planning and multidisciplinary projects, from proposal stage through discharge of planning conditions and beyond
  • Involvement in Development Consent Orders (DCOs) and Examination in Public expert witness projects
  • Proven delivery of varied technical outputs
  • Experience addressing Client requirements through planning and delivery
  • Proactive character with strong team working skills
  • Flexibility to work to demanding timescales
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills
  • Ability to work and succeed in high-pressure situations
  • Attention to detail
  • Client commercial focus and ability to solve complex problems
  • Innovative, adaptable approach and willingness to challenge traditional methods
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, adaptable to a broad audience
  • Visible and participative technical leadership, with accountability for work undertaken
  • Ability to adapt to differing Clients and situations and take initiative
  • Sound understanding and experience of Transport Planning work and wider BWB Pre-Planning services
  • Membership of a relevant professional institution (CIHT, CILT, IHE, TPS, or ICE)
