About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Optimize manufacturing capabilities, capital equipment efficiency, direct labor, costs, processes, and quality
  • Own new and existing plant process projects, including equipment development and fabrication
  • Automate or replace existing processes with current technology
  • Manage equipment design engineers and outside equipment fabrication contractors
  • Coordinate equipment installation, process development, and final plant acceptance
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to process layouts, assembly equipment, and process flows
  • Identify continuous improvement and cost-reduction activities with operations, maintenance, and quality teams
  • Manage design, modification, and maintenance of tooling, jigs, and fixtures
  • Support new product introduction and transition products into production
  • Recommend design changes and alternatives for manufacturability
  • Select and manage suppliers for tools, design services, and build services
  • Direct industrial engineering activities
  • Optimize plant layout and maintain current process documentation
  • Develop manufacturing workstations and implement operational manufacturing processes
  • Evaluate, select, implement, and optimize equipment
  • Ensure compliance with emissions and other environmental regulations
  • Troubleshoot productivity, quality, and parts issues through root-cause analysis and corrective action
  • Own capital projects, including equipment requests, budgets, and timelines
  • Drive make-versus-buy decisions for new production projects
  • Develop specifications, manage suppliers, purchase, install, and qualify equipment
  • Direct designers, technicians, operators, and others on project assignments
  • Develop and execute equipment installation and operational qualifications
  • Help create and initiate process validations
  • Independently evaluate opportunities, identify solutions, and apply engineering analysis tools
  • Report to the Sr. Director of Manufacturing and Manufacturing Engineering

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or another technical field
  • 10+ years of manufacturing experience
  • Lean manufacturing/Six Sigma experience
  • Proficiency with MS Office Tools (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Willingness to relocate if necessary
  • Demonstrable track record of working within and across the organization, driving change, and implementing new manufacturing processes
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and train 2–5 process engineers
  • Strong collaboration and facilitation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with presentation ability
  • Technical expertise and leadership using sound engineering concepts
  • Proactive, results-oriented approach and strong attention to detail
  • Organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to make structured decisions and evaluate alternative solutions
  • Master’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a technical field (preferred)
  • 12–15 years of manufacturing experience (preferred)
  • Battery industry experience (preferred)
  • Black Belt/Six Sigma Certification (preferred)
