About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop, enhance, debug, and implement software in an Agile environment
Create and support applications for a high-impact Federal homeland security program
Develop full-stack software across front-end interfaces and back-end services
Integrate APIs, cloud platforms, and complex data systems
Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to integrate APIs and enhance system performance
Write clean, maintainable code and conduct thorough testing
Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues
Participate in code reviews and provide constructive peer feedback
Document software specifications, design processes, and user guides
Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies

Requirements

What you’ll need

Must live within the DC, MD, VA area
U.S. Citizenship is required
Must be able to obtain CBP Public Trust clearance
Bachelor’s degree plus at least 7 years of work experience
At least 5 years of experience developing Java applications and associated frameworks
At least 3 years of development experience using JavaScript and/or JavaScript frameworks like Angular
At least 3 years of experience working in a story-based Agile team development environment using Jira or a similar tool
At least 3 years of experience working in an automated development environment using CI/CD tools such as Git, Kubernetes, Jenkins, SonarQube
Experience with Spring and Spring Boot
Experience with Hibernate or MyBatis
Experience writing automated unit tests
Experience developing against relational databases such as PostgreSQL, DB2, or Oracle
Experience translating business requirements into working code
Experience developing in and deploying to a cloud environment such as Amazon Web Services
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to collaborate with team members to meet or exceed client needs and expectations
Cloud experience; AWS preferred
