About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Create intuitive, user-centered designs
  • Develop responsive, interactive, maintainable, efficient, and reliable user interfaces
  • Develop interfaces meeting business requirements and user needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Agile methodology experience
  • Must be able to work on-site in Ashburn, VA 1–2 days per week
  • Must live within the DC, MD, VA area
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Active CBP Public Trust clearance
  • Degree in a related field, such as Interactive Design, Architecture, Industrial Design, Graphic Design or Human Factors
  • 5+ years’ experience in UI/UX development
  • Professional experience with enterprise UI design tools such as Figma or similar tools
  • Experience communicating designs with product owners, end users, development teams, and management
  • Ability to understand trade-offs between designs, technical feasibility, and maintenance
  • Proficiency with React, Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, HTTP, CSS, and Kendo UI
  • Familiarity with Java and Spring/Spring Boot
  • Familiarity with Java 17, UI state management, Hibernate or similar ORM, PostgreSQL, and Amazon AWS
  • Experience with CI/CD tools such as Harness, Jenkins, GitLab, or Bamboo
  • Experience with responsive and mobile-first development
  • Experience developing consumer-facing and internal applications
  • Ability to work effectively in an agile design environment
  • Working knowledge of design tools including Figma, Axure, Sketch, InVision, and XD
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly responsible, team-oriented, self-starter with strong work ethic
  • Preferred: Design Thinking certifications
  • Preferred: Experience designing for web accessibility and Section 508 standards
  • Preferred: Experience with information architecture
  • Preferred: Ability and interest in educating others on user-centered design best practices
  • Preferred: Advanced understanding of Lean processes and Agile principles
