About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as the primary POS subject matter expert for DoD S/4HANA implementations supporting NAF entities
Advise on retail structure design for stores, distribution centers, e-commerce channels, and ship stores
Architect sales and payment processes, including tax-free sales, Military STAR Card, gift cards, and layaway programs
Advise on inventory management and replenishment strategies, including DSD, cross-docking, and global allocation
Ensure accurate sales and margin reporting, financial closing support, and transaction audit trails
Lead Fit-to-Standard workshops for merchandising, pricing, promotions, and loss prevention
Oversee functional interfaces between S/4HANA, CAR, e-commerce platforms, WMS, and payment processors
Guide master data strategy for article variants, vendors, and loyalty-program customers
Oversee conversion of legacy sales, inventory, and master data into S/4HANA and CAR
Advise client leadership on operational efficiency, customer experience, merchandising analytics, and store performance
Bridge technical teams and business stakeholders by presenting complex system designs
Mentor and train functional consultants on military retail operations
Identify omnichannel opportunities including BOPIS and unified customer views
Participate in quality assurance and protect sensitive information according to security policies
Perform other related tasks as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 10 years without a Bachelor's degree
Extensive experience with large-scale retail systems, preferably SAP Retail, CAR, or S/4HANA for Retail
Subject matter expertise in retail operations, particularly merchandising, store operations, and supply chain for a multichannel retailer
Proven track record in major retail system implementations
Strong understanding of retail financial concepts, including margin analysis, inventory valuation, and sales auditing
Familiarity with NAF entities and military retail operations, such as NEX, AAFES, and MCX
Ability to present complex retail system designs to executives and business leaders
Industry-recognized certification, such as SAP certification in S/4HANA Retail, SAP CAR, or a related SAP Retail area
U.S. citizenship required
Must be able to obtain and maintain an active government clearance
Nice to have: Experience with the Military STAR Card program
Nice to have: Experience implementing SAP Retail or CAR for a DoD, military exchange, or other federal organization
Nice to have: Experience with SAP POS Data Management, Omnichannel Promotion Pricing, or SAP Commerce
Nice to have: Experience with SAP Activate implementation methodology
Nice to have: Master's degree in a related field
