About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Build and manage client SAP environments, including system installations, configuration, maintenance, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting
Perform system upgrades, migrations, integrations, and implement new SAP designs
Collaborate with clients and business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements and translate them into technical specifications
Lead SAP solution design and implementation, including Proof of Concept development for new projects or add-ons
Provide advanced technical expertise and support across complex SAP landscapes
Work with OS and DB Administrators to optimize system performance
Manage system performance, upgrades, corrections, CTS/TMS transport management, client and landscape strategies, and batch scheduling
Manage SAP user administration, security measures, access controls, authentication mechanisms, security compliance, and performance monitoring
Conduct training sessions for end users and client personnel
Create and maintain technical documentation for SAP systems and processes
Identify and resolve complex SAP technical issues, working with technical teams and SAP support
Serve as an escalation point for less experienced team members
Test and troubleshoot SAP Basis Services against documented business processes and requirements
Stay current with SAP Basis functionality, enhancements, and best practices and share knowledge with the broader team
Travel rarely to client sites for in-person support or technical forums
Participate in quality assurance activities and protect sensitive information according to security policies
Perform other related tasks assigned by the direct supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university with 3-5 years of experience in SAP Basis systems administration with design/development, SAP system installation, upgrades, and performance tuning; or no degree with 7-10 years of stated relevant experience
Current CompTIA Security+ Certification required; if not already held, certification will be required after selection for the position
Advanced understanding of SAP Basis tools and processes, including system builds, upgrades, client copies, OS, print, backup and recovery, HA, across ECC, S/4HANA, Fiori, and other SAP products
Must be a self-starter and problem solver, capable of functioning in a dynamic, fast-paced, change-oriented environment
Ability to anticipate and troubleshoot complex issues
Ability to support, encourage, coach, and maintain accountability
Strong organizational and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail
Exceptional critical and analytical thinking skills with the ability to handle detailed processes and projects successfully
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
Ability to work with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of quality and attention to detail
Limited travel required, less than 5% travel
Must be able to obtain and maintain an active government clearance; requires U.S. citizenship
Nice to have: SAP Certified Technology Associate certifications, Department of Defense or Federal agency experience, SAP Basis workstream leadership or mentoring experience, cloud-hosted SAP environment and cloud migration experience, SAP Solution Manager, High Availability and Disaster Recovery strategy experience, scripting or automation tools
