About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Conduct comprehensive interviews with subjects, employers, associates, references, and other knowledgeable individuals
Review appropriate records to obtain facts
Resolve material issues in cases to establish the subject’s background, reputation, character, suitability, or qualifications
Conduct interviews via virtual teleconference, phone, and in-person meetings, with VTC as the primary method
Attend multiweek intensive virtual online training
Complete additional shadowing and mentorship with an experienced Investigator
Travel to locations across the U.S. for temporary duty assignments, typically lasting two weeks
Support federal background investigations for national security missions

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor’s Degree or 4 years of general experience demonstrating progressive responsibility in problem solving, planning and organizing work, and communicating effectively orally and in writing
Active Top Secret Clearance based on a T5
Ability to obtain and maintain a favorable determination based on a T5 Investigation
Strong sense of mission in supporting national security initiatives
Impeccable work ethic, integrity, and a positive, can-do attitude
Ability to navigate and utilize multiple technology systems simultaneously
Current driver’s license
Reliable personal vehicle
Willingness to travel locally dependent on assignment location
Home office equipped with reliable high-speed Internet
Ability to sit, type, stand, or walk for extended periods of time
Excellent time management and prioritization skills
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Ability to communicate complex or sensitive information effectively
Ability to listen attentively, respond appropriately to nonverbal cues, and make clear oral presentations
Ability to maintain strong relationships with diverse individuals and handle challenging situations professionally
Correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling
