About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support engineering life cycle management engineering and planning for assigned Military Sealift Command ships
- Develop long-range 5–30 year plans for maintenance, operation, repair, and TRANSALT support
- Provide ship availability program management and technical support to MSC vessels
- Work with the Availability Management Team to accomplish assigned work items
- Observe, verify, and report engineering requirements related to vessel maintenance, repair, and modification
- Provide observations, reports, and recommendations to the Principal Port Engineer
- Provide technical services for engineering development and documentation
- Develop work packages and studies supporting vessels and upcoming availabilities
- Provide replacement and repair solutions, upgrades, and improvements
- Assist with SAMM/PENG program activities, availability preparation, and post-availability reports
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum Secret clearance required to start
- DOD Secret Clearance preferred
- Up to 10% travel required
- Technical services experience in naval architecture, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and marine engineering
- Ability to support Military Sealift Command (MSC) ships and ship availabilities
- Ability to work with the Availability Management Team (AMT), Life Cycle Management Division Director, Engineering Type Desk, and Principal Port Engineer (PPE)
- Ability to work in AMT office space at assigned shipyards when assigned to a ship availability
- Ability to work from a contractor facility or remote work location for designated assignments
