About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Serve as an Agile Scrum team member providing native Android application design, development, and maintenance
Deliver releasable mobile software in short sprint cycles
Collaborate with backend software developers/engineers, UX/UI designers, product owners, and end-users
Design, develop, and implement custom, secure native Android mobile applications using Kotlin and legacy Java
Architect clean, maintainable mobile codebases using MVVM, MVI, and Clean Architecture
Provide technical leadership and design recommendations for the Android platform
Ensure compliance with Google Material Design guidelines
Participate in release and sprint planning, artifact creation, sprint testing, regression testing, demonstrations, retrospectives, and solution releases
Analyze mobile challenges including offline synchronization, local data encryption, battery optimization, and memory management
Create innovative solutions to complex technical and procedural problems
Ensure mobile application quality and timely delivery
Resolve bugs and provide periodic performance reports
Mentor and provide code-review guidance to mid-level and junior mobile team members
Support Customs and Border Protection client missions through CACI’s BEAGLE Agile Solution Factory team

Requirements

What you’ll need

Must be a U.S. Citizen
Ability to pass a CBP background investigation, including checks for felony convictions, illegal drug use, and misconduct such as theft or fraud
College degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Management Systems, or a related discipline
At least 5+ years of related software engineering experience
Minimum of 4+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience designing and building native Android applications
Local candidates must be available to work a hybrid schedule in Ashburn, VA
Native Android development using Kotlin and Java within Android Studio
Experience with the Android SDK
Experience with Jetpack Compose and/or XML-based layouts
Experience integrating mobile clients with RESTful APIs, web services, and backend data stores using JSON/XML
Experience with mobile streaming technologies, full-motion video, ExoPlayer, and interactive live data streaming on Android
Object-Oriented Design and Functional Programming concepts
Asynchronous programming, multi-threading, and background processing using Kotlin Coroutines, Flow, or RxJava
Source code control systems and concurrent development workflows; Git/GitFlow preferred
Estimation techniques for mobile software development during sprint planning
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Understanding of the mobile software development life cycle, including secure local storage, Jetpack Security, and secure network communication
Experience with iOS application development using Swift/Xcode
Familiarity with cross-platform mobile frameworks such as Ionic and React Native
Experience with Room, SQLite, or other local mobile databases
Experience establishing mobile CI/CD pipelines using Fastlane, Gradle scripting, Jenkins, or GitLab CI
Experience managing Google Play Console and Firebase App Distribution
Experience with AWS cloud services
Experience with live interactive chat features in mobile environments
