About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the development, implementation, and management of the Cross-Connection Control program
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal requirements
  • Review and maintain records related to backflow prevention assemblies, annual testing, hazard assessments, customer notification, and enforcement actions
  • Develop correspondence, educational content, and training resources
  • Provide technical guidance and training to CCC Supervisors, CCC Specialists, backflow prevention assembly testers, and contractors
  • Prepare reports and compliance documentation for management and regulatory agencies
  • Develop and implement district training on water quality standards and conduct ongoing training
  • Track performance metrics and provide updates on district performance against established goals
  • Provide technical input and assistance on CCC software enhancements and upgrades
  • Represent the Company in professional organizations and industry groups
  • Support the Company’s safety culture, safety training, policies, and PPE practices
  • Participate in the Company’s Continuous Improvement program and projects
  • Perform work on-site in the assigned office location
  • Report directly to the Manager of CCC
  • Perform other similar duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field and/or equivalent relevant experience
  • Knowledge of applicable drinking water laws and regulations relating to cross-connection control
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to prepare, manage, and analyze data
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
  • California State Water Resources Control Board Distribution Operator Grade 2 certification required
  • Must obtain California State Water Resources Control Board Treatment Operator Grade 2 within 1 year
  • Must obtain backflow prevention assembly tester certification from a State Water Resources Control Board-recognized organization within 1 year
  • Must obtain cross-connection control specialist certification from a State Water Resources Control Board-recognized organization within 1 year
  • Valid California driver’s license
