About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own new client business development for CDP’s Drug Delivery sector within an assigned target account list
- Generate qualified pipeline through account-based prospecting, referrals, partner channels, and event-driven follow-up
- Build and maintain pipeline coverage across the sales process
- Identify and engage senior stakeholders at pharmaceutical companies seeking outsourced drug delivery device development services
- Lead consultative discovery conversations covering fit, urgency, needs, technical scope, timeline, budget, decision criteria, and buying process
- Convert ambiguous opportunities into pursuit plans with stakeholder mapping, competitive positioning, qualification checkpoints, and mutual action plans
- Collaborate with market leadership to shape technically sound, commercially viable, and executable scopes
- Maintain accurate CRM records, opportunity staging, next steps, close plans, probability, and weekly forecasts
- Represent CDP at conferences, industry events, and networking forums
- Execute clean handoffs to delivery leadership while preserving scope intent and customer expectations
- Assist with annual budgeting and strategic planning
- Identify sector opportunity spaces, target clients, market trends, barriers, and risks
- Identify market themes and work with marketing on conferences, sales materials, case studies, website updates, collateral, and thought leadership
- Update and manage sales materials and present CDP capabilities compellingly
- Attend and present at conferences
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, life sciences, or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- 10+ years of progressive business development experience
- Demonstrated success selling engineering consulting and outsourced product development services
- Proven new client acquisition experience, including outbound pipeline generation and closing complex, solution-based sales
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to explain complex development concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience managing long, multi-stakeholder sales cycles involving executive, engineering, quality, regulatory, clinical, and procurement contacts
- Familiarity with medical device development and regulatory environments
- Working knowledge of FDA, ISO 13485, and IEC 60601 requirements/standards
- Strong planning, organization, communication, CRM, and forecast-reporting skills
- Ability to travel within the assigned territory for customer meetings and industry events
- Experience developing scopes of work and proposals with engineering, program management, quality, and regulatory teams
