About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform intermediate and advanced laboratory tests and analyses on crude oil, refined petroleum, petrochemical products, and quality control samples
  • Review and interpret data, prepare detailed reports, and communicate results to cross-functional teams
  • Analyze and interpret test results to ensure compliance with company and regulatory standards
  • Prepare, label, store, and track samples and reagents
  • Enter test data into the company’s internal software system and maintain accurate records
  • Assist with calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and equipment
  • Ensure compliance with laboratory safety procedures and protocols, particularly when handling hazardous chemicals and materials
  • Assist in preparing for internal or external audits and inspections
  • Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of laboratory areas
  • Perform other duties as defined

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of laboratory experience or a related role within the oil and gas industry
  • Strong knowledge of petroleum products, chemical analysis, and laboratory testing procedures
  • Knowledge of laboratory testing standards such as ASTM, API, and ISO
  • Good vision to read instruments and interpret test results accurately
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to learn new software systems and applications specific to the company's internal processes
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in testing and documentation
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds on occasion
  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including gloves, safety glasses, lab coats, and respirators, as necessary
  • Ability to work in varying environmental conditions, including exposure to chemicals and laboratory hazards, while adhering to safety protocols
