About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead, coach, and grow a distributed team of roughly 10 engineers across the US, Mexico, and India
  • Build one team across full-time employees and contractors with shared standards, rituals, and quality expectations
  • Design timezone overlap windows, handoffs, and async documentation
  • Hire, onboard, and develop engineers and partner with HR and vendors on staffing decisions
  • Write production code regularly, pick up sprint stories, pair with engineers, review pull requests, and lead technical design
  • Prototype difficult parts of the headless migration
  • Lead migration from Salesforce Commerce Cloud storefronts to a headless Next.js frontend deployed on Vercel
  • Sequence migration increments while protecting SEO, URL structures, performance, Core Web Vitals, analytics, and checkout reliability
  • Partner on integration patterns between Next.js, SFCC APIs, and third-party services
  • Lead AI adoption across requirements, design, coding, review, testing, documentation, and release
  • Establish AI coding assistant and agent guardrails, standards, and review practices
  • Partner with QA on AI-assisted test generation, regression coverage, and quality automation
  • Measure AI impact on cycle time, quality, and throughput
  • Own engineering delivery for three brand storefronts and balance shared components with brand-specific experiences
  • Own uptime, performance, incident response, observability, alerting, and on-call practices
  • Own quality through automated testing, CI/CD, code review standards, and release practices
  • Manage technical debt and communicate its business value
  • Partner with engineering, QA, product, merchandising, marketing, and brand leaders on roadmaps and business outcomes
  • Manage contractor and systems integrator partners and ensure knowledge transfer

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years in a player-coach or engineering manager role leading engineers directly
  • Currently hands-on; must still write production code and be ready to prove it in a technical interview
  • Hands-on experience with Salesforce Commerce Cloud (B2C Commerce), including storefront development, cartridges, and platform APIs
  • Strong command of JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and server-rendered web applications
  • Demonstrated experience applying AI across the SDLC, with real examples of AI tools and agents changing how a team plans, builds, tests, and ships
  • Ability to tie engineering work to business value and communicate it in actionable terms for leadership
  • Experience leading distributed teams across multiple countries and timezones, ideally including nearshore or offshore engineers
  • Experience leading blended teams of full-time employees and contractors, including holding vendor partners accountable for delivery and quality
  • Track record running production eCommerce platforms at scale, including peak season readiness and incident management
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
  • Production experience with headless or composable commerce architecture is highly preferred
  • Hands-on experience with Next.js and Vercel, including SSR, ISR, edge rendering, and caching strategies is highly preferred
  • Experience leading a storefront replatform or migration to headless architecture is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with SCAPI, OCAPI, SLAS, SFCC Business Manager, multi-brand commerce, SEO, WCAG, Core Web Vitals, Vercel, CI/CD, observability, API gateways, Linear, and Confluence
