About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Implement, coordinate, and monitor Health, Safety, and Environmental requirements across the company's operational solar asset portfolio in South Africa
Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of HSE policies and procedures
Track, record, and report incidents, near-misses, and safety violations
Coordinate safety training programs and ensure employees are adequately trained in HSE policies and procedures
Prepare and disseminate safety communications, including newsletters, bulletins, and posters
Maintain and update safety records, certifications, permits, and logs
Prepare and submit regulatory reports and documentation required by environmental and occupational health agencies
Support the South African HSE Representative with safety committee meetings and employee initiatives
Compile and review EPC and contractor HSE files
Manage asset-management HSE administration
Manage contractor and service-provider HSE activities
Conduct site inspections and HSE assurance
Handle incident and emergency management
Ensure legal and regulatory compliance
Produce HSE reporting and KPIs
Deliver training and awareness activities
Manage stakeholders

Requirements

What you’ll need

Relevant HSE/Safety qualification
SAMTRAC or relevant equivalent qualification
Incident investigation experience
ISO 45001 experience
ISO 14001 experience
Minimum 3–5 years' HSE experience
Practical experience conducting workplace/site inspections
Experience working with contractors/service providers
Good understanding of South African OHS legislation
Experience with HSE documentation and reporting
Good report-writing and communication skills
Valid driver's licence
Willingness and ability to travel nationally
Open, honest, trustworthy, and a strong communicator
Ability to work as a dynamic, cross-functional team player and take initiative
International company experience or having studied/worked abroad is a plus
