About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the accounts payable workflow from invoice intake through approval and payment
- Code expenses to the appropriate GL accounts, departments, cost centers, projects, and reporting categories
- Prepare payment batches and concise payment reports for Finance leadership
- Maintain AP aging and vendor schedules and support cash-requirement planning
- Investigate duplicate invoices, missing approvals, incorrect coding, vendor discrepancies, and payment issues through resolution
- Partner with teams across the company to improve invoice approvals, expense coding, and purchasing processes
- Support month-end AP reconciliations, accruals, expense analysis, and supporting schedules
- Prepare reporting on company spending, vendors, payments, outstanding liabilities, and expense trends
- Identify repetitive manual work and help implement improved workflows, integrations, and automation
- Take on projects involving cash forecasting, budgeting, reporting, financial analysis, and finance systems
Requirements
What you’ll need- 0–2 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related analytical role
- A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field
- Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals, including AP, GL coding and reconciliations
- Strong Excel and Google Sheets skills, plus confidence working with financial data
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Clear communication skills and confidence working with people across different teams
- High degree of ownership
- Curiosity about systems, automation, and how technology can make Finance better
- Comfort operating in an environment where processes are still evolving
- Ability to work in the Brooklyn/New York office, 10am–6pm ET, Monday–Friday
