Key responsibilities & impact

Partner with the staff engineer to investigate and resolve complex Chromium issues, including upgrade breakages, rendering race conditions, and incidents caused by upstream changes
Own the PDF accessibility post-processing pipeline
Implement PDF tagging and compliance features for PDF/UA and WCAG for Enterprise customers
Build monitoring and testing infrastructure to detect Chromium changes before production
Design accessibility solutions resilient to Chromium output structure changes
Contribute to export infrastructure challenges, including format optimisation and distributed systems reliability
Document complex Chromium behaviour and architectural decisions
Support Canva's Export team, which transforms designs into downloadable files and powers print production, AI model training, and thumbnail generation

Requirements

What you’ll need

Deep experience with Chromium or another browser rendering engine
Comfortable with C++ when working with complex third-party codebases
Solid Java backend engineering experience
Experience debugging layered systems spanning multiple codebases and languages
PDF specification knowledge or experience with PDF generation and post-processing
Background in rendering pipelines, graphics programming, or print production systems
Experience maintaining systems where upstream dependencies change frequently
Must provide pronouns and any reasonable interview adjustments when applying
