About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Interpret customer and business needs and provide technical input into feasible application solutions and system design
  • Code and configure programs, objects, components, and packaged software using established standards and conventions
  • Document implementation details and perform quality checks on code, configuration, related components, test evidence, and supporting documentation
  • Deliver working functionality incrementally each sprint and modify existing code or configuration to meet approved requirements
  • Perform impact assessments across people, processes, data, applications, and integrations; identify and raise functional design risks
  • Partner with the Product Owner and team to confirm implementation and acceptance tests reflect intended functionality
  • Apply Test-Driven Development and Behavior-Driven Development practices where appropriate
  • Use data creation tools, review automated test results, and apply development and test automation frameworks
  • Support application implementation, releases, environment troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions with guidance
  • Own assigned deliverables, communicate status and impediments, and complete issue resolution in a timely manner
  • Write and refine user stories with technical tasks and acceptance criteria; estimate work using relative sizing
  • Participate in PI Planning, Sprint Planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, system demos, retrospectives, and Inspect and Adapt activities
  • Commit to team PI objectives and sprint goals, communicate progress and impediments, and own assigned work items
  • Demonstrate working functionality to Product and Business Owners and support iteration and PI System Demos
  • Practice continuous exploration, continuous integration, and continuous deployment to support the Continuous Delivery Pipeline and DevOps
  • Develop T-shaped skills, participate in Communities of Practice, share knowledge, and contribute ideas for continuous improvement
  • Work across development, testing, product, architecture, and business partners to improve flow and transparency

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in software development, solution engineering, or a related technology field
  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience with Guidewire products, preferably PolicyCenter, including configuration and integration development
  • Hands-on exposure to Guidewire products, preferably PolicyCenter, through configuration, integration, support, testing, or implementation work
  • Foundational experience with PolicyCenter configuration, including product model, business rules, workflows, user interface components, data model extensions, and validation logic
  • Ability to read, write, and modify Gosu code, page configuration files, business rules, data model extensions, and basic unit tests such as GUnit tests
  • Basic understanding of PolicyCenter integrations using REST services, Guidewire APIs, messaging, events, plugins, batch processes, and enterprise system interfaces
  • Working knowledge of source control, build processes, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and environment support practices
  • Foundational property and casualty insurance knowledge, including products, coverages, underwriting processes, and integration touchpoints
  • Strong verbal communication, listening, writing, and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, including root cause analysis, comparing alternatives, and recommending viable solutions
  • Ability to use data to identify meaningful information, patterns, or conclusions
  • Strong ownership and accountability for individual deliverables
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and multiple assignments
  • Foundational knowledge of object-oriented programming, declarative concepts, defensive coding, error handling, version control, databases, SQL, and integrated development environments
  • Working-level understanding of applications within the assigned domain and data flow between internal and external systems
  • Broad understanding of insurance concepts, terminology, products, and business processes
  • Ability to share knowledge, provide constructive feedback, and train or support others
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related field preferred
  • Guidewire Configuration or Integration certification is preferred or expected based on assignment needs
