About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead CAE and virtual analysis activities throughout all vehicle program development phases
- Analyze and optimize suspension and steering subsystem kinematics and compliance
- Assess steady-state and transient handling behavior and calculate component loads for handling events
- Simulate ride events and characterize low- and high-frequency performance, impact harshness, pitch under braking, head-toss, shimmy, wander, and brake judder
- Develop, validate, and own full-vehicle and subsystem simulation models using multi-body dynamics, parametric, real-time, and flex-body tools
- Develop models remotely and provide on-site support for driving simulator studies
- Formulate and execute analytical support plans for physical mule tuning activities
- Develop new CAE and simulation processes as needed
- Formulate design recommendations to meet functional objectives and minimize vehicle/suspension sensitivity to road, assembly, architecture, and wear variations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university
- Experience with processes and simulation techniques for suspension/steering/brake system kinematics, compliance, vibration studies, vehicle ride/handling assessments, and component structural analysis
