About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop, manage, and maintain project deliverables, including scopes, schedules, budgets, resource plans, risk analyses, quality assurance, lessons learned, and status reports
- Coordinate cross-functional activities to achieve project outcomes
- Manage program deliverables and provide technical and innovative insight to balance quality, cost, and schedule
- Align, integrate, and control program components and resources to achieve program goals and manage risks
- Track progress and provide leadership status updates on milestones, risks, scope, schedule, and budget
- Collaborate with project owners to communicate project expectations
- Develop and assist with procurement processes, including statements of work, cost estimates, Board agenda items, and executive memos
- Manage resources and collaborate with business and technical leadership to control scope, cost, schedule, and risks
- Adhere to project and program standards and provide technical leadership to project management staff and teams
- Support project budgeting and cost forecasting improvements
- Conduct field work and field visits as required
- Manage project planning documentation and internal updates
- Support CapMetro’s Safety Management Systems process and ensure safety and security concerns are reported
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in project management, information technology, public administration, or related subject area; additional related experience may substitute for a degree on a year-for-year basis up to four years
- Master’s degree may substitute for two years of work experience preferred
- Six (6) years of experience leading cross-functional projects and/or programs from initiation through completion, including planning, budgeting, procurement, resource management, and reporting
- Demonstrated success leading implementation of complex projects, programs, and portfolios
- Proficient experience using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Visio, and SharePoint
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from PMI preferred
- Planview experience preferred
- Familiarity with transit industry, public sector, or technology and construction projects preferred
- Knowledge of project management practices for managing cost, schedule, and performance
- Ability to understand, develop, and manage project technical details and find solutions
- Effective communication and ability to identify and communicate risks
- Ability to work in a team environment in a matrix organization
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to stand, walk, and travel 90% throughout the workday
- Ability to work varying shifts, including days, nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts
- Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
- Ability to lift and move material weighing up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to work at a computer terminal for 6–8 hours a day
- Regular and predictable attendance at assigned work location
- Must be currently authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available
