About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the agency’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan, focusing on Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance
  • Examine records, reports, operating practices, and documentation for compliance with internal controls
  • Monitor and analyze existing and new state and federal legislation
  • Audit adherence to regulatory requirements and advise management through cross-functional teams
  • Perform standardized audits and recommend policies and procedures
  • Collect agency data, analyze compliance trends, and generate key metrics and reports
  • Generate, coordinate, and deliver compliance plans to facility staff
  • Perform quality and safety audits and inspections, identify deficiencies, and ensure corrective action
  • Support audits, hazard management, management of change, employee safety reporting, and Corrective Action Plans
  • Support the agency hazard reporting system
  • Monitor processes for continuous improvement opportunities
  • Maintain incident logs and compile statistics for trend reports, exposure records, and other reports
  • Provide detailed reports and statistical data
  • Support Capital Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Safety Management Systems process
  • Follow safety and security policies and report safety and security concerns
  • Perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in safety, Project Management, Business Administration, or other related fields
  • Five (5) years’ work experience in safety, project management, or transportation administration
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Working knowledge of CFR 673 and Safety Management Systems a plus
  • Knowledge of current and emerging issues and trends in regulatory compliance
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and EHS data management software
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Willingness to be flexible with time and adjust to a changing work environment
  • Ability to build and maintain positive internal and external relationships
  • Ability to use sound judgment and discretion with highly confidential information
  • Consistent attendance
  • Ability to prioritize work accurately, be detail-oriented, recognize urgency, and use good judgment
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Risk assessment and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to stand and sit frequently during an eight-hour period
  • Ability to reach vertically and horizontally
  • Ability to use telephone or headset equipment
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to work at a computer terminal for 6–8 hours per day
