About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Build and run the content engine for Carbon180’s policy, science, and program work
- Write and edit blogs, explainers, one-pagers, newsletters, and social content
- Manage newsletter production and collaborate with program staff on content
- Own editorial calendars and maintain voice, quality, style guides, and internal communications resources
- Translate technical policy, science, and program material into accessible language
- Draft press releases, statements, media advisories, and talking points
- Support media inquiries, coverage tracking, spokesperson preparation, and event communications
- Produce fundraising emails, appeals, campaign collateral, funder materials, reports, and webinars
- Build supporter pipelines and lead donor audience segmentation
- Lead execution of the public education campaign explaining carbon removal
- Manage weekly cross-channel content production across web, social, video, and email
- Recruit and coach colleagues contributing on camera and in writing
- Maintain the campaign website
- Set success measures, track performance, and adjust communications plans
- Own social channels, publishing, performance, and short-form video for Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube
- Lead SEO and GEO approaches and maintain carbon180.org content
- Conduct landscape and audience analysis
- Lead twice-yearly communications impact reviews
- Build performance reporting for program, development, and leadership teams
- Represent Carbon180 in meetings, conferences, advocacy efforts, and appropriate in-person engagements
- Report to the Director of Communications
Requirements
What you’ll need- Six to ten years of experience in communications, marketing, content production, journalism, or advocacy within government, NGOs, or related fields
- Strong writing capabilities across blogs, social media captions, and fundraising emails
- Ability to analyze trends and challenges and contribute to strategies, research, or policy recommendations
- Working knowledge of social media management and performance data
- Comfort with email marketing and CRM platforms; Carbon180 uses Mailchimp and Salesforce
- Experience collaborating across teams and providing peer-level guidance
- Strong communication skills and experience translating complex topics for diverse audiences
- Experience representing a team in meetings and stakeholder engagements
- Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and justice (DEIBJ)
- Climate or carbon removal focus welcomed but not required
- Experience engaging donor audiences welcomed but not required
- WordPress experience welcomed but not required
- Video production and relevant tools welcomed but not required
- Ability to work in a remote-first environment and participate in in-person engagements as appropriate
