About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Troubleshoot, diagnose, service, repair, and install dock and door equipment
- Perform planned maintenance on customer dock and door equipment
- Perform MIG, TIG, and arc welding
- Drive to customer locations and travel extensively
- Confer with customers about problems and issues
- Perform safety and operational tests
- Quote repair costs and complete repair paperwork
- Communicate daily with the dispatcher to determine the work schedule
- Schedule and coordinate service according to the daily repair schedule
- Maintain the service van and replenish its inventory
- Perform minor service van repairs and maintain safety equipment
- Report to the Branch Manager, Field Service Manager, or Service Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Less than 2 years related experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license and good driving record
- Ability to safely operate lift trucks
- Extensive travel (over 20%)
- Occasional overnight stays (0-5%)
- Legally authorized to work in the United States; no sponsorship provided
- Must be 21 years old if operating a non-CDL, DOT-regulated vehicle
- Must pass a DOT Physical if applicable
- Good mechanical aptitude and knowledge of electrical/electronic systems and hydraulics
- Ability to read and understand hydraulic and electrical schematics
- MIG, TIG, and arc welding experience
- Familiarity with common hand tools and equipment
- Good written and verbal communication and customer care skills
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 100 lb. and operating vehicles/service vans
- Good binocular vision; ability to distinguish colors preferred
