About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Independently provide psychiatric care to patients within the specialty of psychiatry
  • Provide direct care to patients and families with complex psychiatric needs and stable medical conditions in the crisis stabilization unit
  • Round on patients daily
  • Recommend appropriate internal and external referrals and use community resources
  • Assist patients, families, and staff with referrals and resources
  • Conduct concise interviews and formulate psychiatric differential diagnoses
  • Use appropriate psychiatric interventions, particularly psychotropic medications
  • Document pertinent patient data in the medical record
  • Collaborate across disciplines and meet with the team daily
  • Deliver care consistent with Commonwealth Care Alliance’s mission
  • Use quality-improvement data to enhance patient care
  • Provide clinically appropriate care and care-management services through telehealth
  • Provide education and clinical updates to primary care, iCMP, and HICM medical teams

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Master's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
  • Authorization by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing to practice in an expanded role
  • DEA certification
  • Massachusetts Controlled Substance certification
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support certification
  • Annual Influenza vaccination requirement during Influenza season (October 1–March 31)
  • Ability to provide psychiatric care independently
  • Knowledge of psychiatric differential diagnosis and psychotropic medications
  • Competency in medical-record documentation
  • Willingness to learn and use telehealth technologies
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Physical ability to meet core job responsibilities
