About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support the interdisciplinary team with assessment, treatment planning, psychotherapy/counseling, and discharge planning for inpatient behavioral health patients
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling
- Facilitate at least one regularly scheduled group therapy session per week
- Involve families in treatment at least twice per week
- Complete initial and ongoing patient assessments
- Document assessments, interventions, progress, treatment plans, and discharge plans
- Collaborate with treatment team members and community providers on individualized treatment plans, referrals, and discharge planning
- Participate in staffing meetings and coordinate care with psychiatrists, case managers, patients, families, and community providers
- Facilitate transitions between levels of care and provide information to next-level providers
- Assist patients, families, and staff with legal issues, guardianship, court proceedings, and abuse or neglect reporting
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's Degree in Social Work
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training within 3 months
- Knowledge of age-appropriate behaviors
- Expertise in group dynamics
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Code, the Confidentiality Act, the Mental Health Treatment Preference Act, HIPAA, guardianship and custody laws, advance directive legislation, MMCI policies, and elderly and child abuse reporting laws
