About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide assistance to the interdisciplinary team in assessment, treatment planning, psychotherapy/counseling, and discharge planning for inpatient behavioral health patients
- Provide individual, group, and family counseling
- Facilitate at least one regularly scheduled group therapy session per week
- Involve families in treatment at least twice per week
- Complete initial and ongoing patient assessments
- Document assessments, treatment progress, interventions, discharge plans, and goals
- Assist with milieu management, admission assessments, and intakes during low census
- Use CPI methods when assisting with aggressive or violent patients
- Collaborate with treatment team members and community providers on individualized treatment plans, referrals, and discharge planning
- Participate in staffing meetings and community, return-to-work, discharge, and school staffings
- Coordinate daily care and discharge planning with psychiatrists, case managers, providers, patients, and families
- Facilitate transitions between levels of care and provide information to next-level providers
- Assist staff, patients, and families with legal issues related to treatment and protection of patient rights
- Assist with guardianship, court petitions, court proceedings, and abuse or neglect reporting
Requirements
What you’ll need- Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Counseling
- Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Illinois or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Illinois
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training within 3 months
- Knowledge of age-appropriate behaviors
- Expertise in group dynamics
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Code, Confidentiality Act, Mental Health Treatment Preference Act, HIPAA, guardianship and custody laws, advance directive legislation, MMCI policies, and elderly and child abuse reporting laws
- Ability to use usual and customary equipment required for the position
