About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Answer incoming Carle Direct telephone calls professionally
- Identify customer needs and determine appropriate assistance
- Register patient admissions in Epic
- Obtain accurate customer information and enter it into transfer software for nursing staff
- Coordinate outbound transfer follow-up and communication
- Coordinate and follow up on outpatient appointment scheduling
- Complete department logs and audits
- Assist with patient transportation coordination
- Contact patients with bed numbers and directions for planned admissions
- Communicate with House Administrators, Bed Placement, on-call administration, Emergency Department ATC, providers, nursing staff, and Case Management regarding bed availability and patient updates
- Order department supplies in Lawson and Warehouse Direct
- Update daily assignments and communication boards
- Retrieve medical records as needed
- Coordinate transmission of images from referring facilities to Epic
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ability to complete onsite training in Champaign within 8–12 weeks
- Ability to work every other Saturday from 9am–9pm
- Ability to work every other Monday from 9am–9pm
- Ability to work two additional evenings per week from 7pm–11pm
- Ability to work evening shifts
- Customer service and telephone communication skills
- Ability to register patient admissions in Epic
- Ability to obtain accurate customer information and enter it into transfer software
- Ability to coordinate patient transfers, appointments, transportation, and communications
- Ability to complete department logs and audits
- Ability to order supplies in Lawson and Warehouse Direct
- Ability to retrieve medical records and coordinate medical image transmission to Epic
