About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Room patients and collect chief complaint, family history, social history, surgical history, and medication reconciliation information
  • Complete telephone communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities
  • Perform patient check-in/check-out, prior authorizations, appointment scheduling, benefits verification, and referral/testing coordination
  • Perform office procedures, including suture or staple removal as directed
  • Provide written procedure, medication, follow-up, and condition-specific education as directed by providers
  • Administer medications and injections under provider direction
  • Assist with prescription medication refills, pharmacy communications, patient notifications, and EMR documentation
  • Maintain equipment-handling and specialty-training competencies
  • Assist physicians with office-based procedures and documentation
  • Collect and process patient specimens
  • Enter patient medical history and medication reconciliation into medical records
  • Assemble, tear down, and high-level disinfect ultrasound probes and equipment

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • H.S. Diploma/GED
  • Customer service work experience
  • One of the listed medical assistant certifications: RMA (ARMA), CCMA (NHA), NRCMA (NAHP), RMA (AMT), CMA (AAMA), CMA (NCCT), or RMA (AAH)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days from the American Heart Association
  • Ability to perform duties within the CMA scope of practice
  • Ability to work an as-needed (PRN), variable schedule
  • Work authorization verification through E-Verify/Form I-9
