About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist providers and clinical staff with obtaining vital information and preparing patients for examinations, treatments, and minor surgical procedures
  • Obtain patient history and review of systems; measure and document vital signs
  • Perform basic rooming functions and screening questions
  • Draw and collect blood and other patient samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
  • Carry out clinical orders, including administering medications and vaccinations orally or by injection
  • Track follow-up appointments for office visits, laboratory tests, and procedures
  • Manage results and follow-up as determined by the provider
  • Complete delegated tasks within certification, licensure, and competency scope
  • Schedule specialist and outpatient referrals and complete referral and laboratory requisitions with CPT/ICD-10 coding
  • Document patient care in the electronic medical record using standardized workflows
  • Answer patient and family questions and provide education
  • Attend clinic meetings, review communications, and monitor organizational information
  • Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, Safety and Risk Management, Compliance, HIPAA, and personnel policies
  • Perform other duties requested by the Clinic Administrator to support office operations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma/GED
  • Certified medical assistant work experience
  • One of the listed medical assistant certifications: RMA (AMT), CCMA (NHA), CMA (NCCT), or CMA (AAMA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days through the American Heart Association
  • Ability to perform vital signs, patient screening, documentation, specimen collection, medication and vaccination administration within scope of competency
  • Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding
  • Compliance with CLIA, OSHA, Safety and Risk Management, HIPAA, and workplace policies
  • Regular and consistent attendance
  • PRN day schedule availability, 8:00–4:30
  • Work authorization verification through E-Verify
