About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist providers and clinical staff with obtaining vital information and preparing patients for examinations, treatments, and minor surgical procedures
  • Obtain review of systems, patient history, vital signs, screening responses, and complete chart documentation
  • Perform basic rooming functions and clinical procedures, including blood draws, specimen collection, venipuncture, injections, vaccinations, TB placements, and ear lavages
  • Administer medications and vaccinations as directed within scope of competency
  • Track follow-up appointments related to visits, laboratory tests, and procedures
  • Manage results and follow-up actions as determined by providers
  • Schedule specialist and outpatient referrals and complete referral and laboratory requisitions with CPT/ICD-10 coding
  • Document patient care in the electronic medical record using standardized workflows
  • Answer patient and family questions and provide education
  • Triage patients according to illness or injury severity
  • Attend clinic meetings, review communications, and maintain compliance with clinical, safety, compliance, and HIPAA policies
  • Perform other duties assigned by the provider, supervisor, or Clinic Administrator

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • H.S. Diploma/GED
  • Basic computer skills
  • One of the listed Medical Assistant certifications: RMA (ARMA), RMA (AMT), CCMA (NHA), RMA (AAH), CMA (NCCT), NRCMA (NAHP), or CMA (AAMA)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days
  • Occupational Medicine certification within 6 months of hire, including breath alcohol testing, drug screening, audiograms, and knowledge of DOT requirements
  • Ability to perform basic clinical skills, vital signs, screening, venipuncture, specimen collection, injections, vaccinations, TB placements, and ear lavages
  • Compliance with CLIA, OSHA, Safety and Risk Management, HIPAA, and workplace policies
  • Regular and consistent attendance
  • Occasional Saturday availability
