About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist providers and clinical staff with obtaining vital information and preparing patients for examinations, treatment, and minor surgical procedures
- Obtain patient histories, review of systems, vital signs, screening responses, and complete chart documentation
- Perform basic rooming functions
- Draw and collect blood and other patient samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
- Carry out clinical orders within scope of competency, including administering medications and vaccinations orally or by injection
- Manage tracking systems for follow-up appointments, laboratory tests, and procedures
- Assist with managing results and follow-up as determined by providers
- Schedule specialist and outpatient referrals and complete referral and laboratory requisitions with CPT/ICD-10 coding
- Document patient care in the electronic medical record using standardized workflows
- Answer patient and family questions and provide education as directed by providers
- Attend clinic and department meetings and stay informed through emails and the organization’s intranet
- Perform other duties requested by the Clinic Administrator to support office operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Certified Medical Assistant certification through NCCT, AAMA, AMT, or NHA
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days through the American Heart Association
- High school diploma/GED
- Certificate of Completion in Medical Assisting
- Basic computer skills
- Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, Safety and Risk Management guidelines
- Maintain compliance with Compliance, HIPAA, and personnel workplace rules
- Regular and consistent attendance
