About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist providers and clinical staff with obtaining vital information and preparing patients for examinations, treatments and minor surgical procedures
- Obtain patient histories and review of systems, measure vital signs, and document information in patient charts
- Perform basic rooming functions and screening questions
- Draw and collect blood and other patient samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
- Administer medications and vaccinations orally or by injection within scope of competency
- Track follow-up appointments related to office visits, laboratory tests and procedures
- Assist with managing results and follow-up as determined by the provider
- Schedule specialist and outpatient referrals and complete referral and lab requisition forms, including CPT/ICD-10 coding
- Document patient information in the electronic medical record using standardized workflows
- Answer patient and family questions and provide education as directed by the provider
- Attend clinic and department meetings and stay informed through emails and the organization intranet
- Perform clerical duties, prepare treatment rooms, assist with patient examinations and procedures, and perform other duties assigned by the Patient Care Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- H.S. Diploma/GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) qualification indicated by the role title
- Complete tasks within scope of certificate, licensure and competency
- Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, Safety and Risk Management guidelines
- Maintain compliance with Compliance, HIPAA and personnel workplace rules
- Regular and consistent attendance
- Infection control standards when working with patients and equipment
