About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Room patients and collect chief complaint, family history, social history, surgical history, and medication reconciliation information
- Complete telephone communications with patients, families, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities
- Perform patient check-in/check-out, prior authorizations, appointment scheduling, benefits verification, referrals, and testing coordination
- Perform office procedures and point-of-care diagnostic testing under provider direction
- Provide written procedure, medication, follow-up, and condition-specific education as directed
- Administer medications, immunizations, PPD tests, nebulizer treatments, and oral medications
- Obtain vital signs including weight, height, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, and pulse
- Assist with toenail removal, lesion removal, wound care, physical forms, and DME forms
- Process prescription refills, contact pharmacies, notify patients, and document actions in the EMR
- Maintain department-specific competencies for testing, equipment handling, and specialty training
Requirements
What you’ll need- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) certification from an accepted accrediting organization
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days from the American Heart Association
- H.S. Diploma/GED required
- Ability to perform patient rooming, vital-sign collection, medication reconciliation, point-of-care testing, immunizations, PPD testing, nebulizer treatments, wound care, and office procedures
- Ability to administer medications per provider orders
- Ability to complete administrative tasks including check-in/check-out, prior authorizations, scheduling, benefits verification, referrals, and testing coordination
- Ability to work the day shift; office open Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–5 p.m.
- Weekend availability: one Saturday per month, 8 a.m.–12 p.m.
- Must meet department-specific competencies and specialty training requirements
