About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support multiple areas within the ambulatory clinic setting
  • Room patients and collect pertinent clinical and medical history information, medication reconciliation, and vital signs
  • Communicate by telephone with patients, families, pharmacies, and healthcare facilities
  • Perform patient check-in/check-out, appointment scheduling, prior authorizations, benefit verification, referrals, testing coordination, and form completion
  • Assist with office procedures, department-approved clinical procedures, and point-of-care testing
  • Administer medications and injections per provider orders
  • Handle prescription refill requests, pharmacy communications, patient notifications, and EMR documentation
  • Collect, process, and handle laboratory specimens
  • Provide written instructions, follow-up information, and approved educational materials
  • Maintain competencies related to point-of-care testing, equipment handling, and specialty training
  • Float between multiple ambulatory clinics and perform department-specific functions
  • Support HAMP coverage needs and other clinic operations as assigned

  • Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) - National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (ARMA) - American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA)
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) (AAH) - American Allied Health (AAH)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • High School Diploma or GED
