About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate planning, development, and implementation of unit education
- Provide bedside education to nursing staff
- Ensure staff competency through monthly skill validation and frequent monitoring
- Serve as the education and quality resource for nursing practice issues
- Support orientation for new unit employees
- Oversee policy, procedure, and standard development and revision using evidence-based practice changes
- Perform routine audits to ensure staff education needs are addressed
- Plan and coordinate unit educational presentations and activities
- Provide patient education classes on joint replacement
- Support less experienced staff in developing unit-specific skills
- Use information technology and current research to provide evidence-based practice information
- Develop, maintain, and monitor staff competencies and records for annual review
- Provide ROC to non-compliant staff and report promptly to the manager
- Investigate and follow up on unusual occurrences using the Stars System
Requirements
What you’ll need- Prior RN inpatient experience >2 years
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
- Stroke Certified Registered Nurse (SCRN) within 1 year — American Board of Neuroscience Nursing (ABNN)
- Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN) within 1 year — Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board (MSNCB)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year — American Heart Association (AHA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days — American Heart Association (AHA)
