About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Assist Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses with delegated patient-care and unit-maintenance activities
  • Provide hygiene, nutrition, elimination, skin care, comfort, and activity assistance
  • Perform patient measurements including intake and output, vital signs, blood pressure, weights, drains, and abdominal girth
  • Perform additional trained and certified skills as directed by the nurse, including intermittent urinary catheterization and clean dressing changes
  • Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Set up equipment, manage patient belongings, and prepare rooms
  • Make patient rounds at least every two hours and respond promptly to call lights
  • Report pertinent patient information to the assigned nurse and complete documentation before leaving the shift
  • Maintain clean, safe, organized patient rooms and unit areas
  • Restock supplies, manage SPD exchange cart supplies, complete errands, and perform unit maintenance
  • Assist with patient lifting, moving, and handling using appropriate safety equipment
  • Support department goals, quality assurance, infection control, patient fall prevention, and patient satisfaction
  • Attend educational offerings and maintain current patient-care knowledge
  • Communicate respectfully with patients, families, nursing staff, peers, and hospital personnel

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days — American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Training within 3 months — Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI)
  • Knowledge and skill in applicable patient-care procedures
  • Ability to perform assigned duties under Registered Nurse and Licensed Practical Nurse supervision
  • Ability to work evening shift, 3p–11:30p
  • Every other weekend availability
  • Holiday rotation availability
  • Ability to maintain patient and staff safety, including proper lifting, transfers, hand hygiene, PPE, and lift equipment use
