About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Transport clinical and anatomical specimens for laboratory testing
- Perform designated routes efficiently and maintain scheduled stops within allotted time periods
- Adjust routes dynamically to meet client needs
- Coordinate with co-workers to ensure smooth route transitions
- Verify specimens are properly labeled before laboratory transport
- Log all stops, specimens picked up, and deliveries using the handheld tracking device or paper logs during downtime
- Transport laboratory and hospital-related items accurately and promptly
- Prepare and deliver client-requested supplies immediately via the Customer Service Department
- Maintain assigned vehicle's proper use, care, cleanliness, and fuel level
- Park in designated areas at shift end
- Remove coolers, supplies, envelopes, and trash from the vehicle daily
- Report operational concerns and maintenance needs to the Manager or Supervisor
- Communicate information and share knowledge with peers, lead staff, coordinators, and customers
- Read daily email messages for operational changes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record
- Driver's License - Illinois Secretary of State (ILSOS)
- Clean MVR
- Follow established routes, protocols, Rules of the Road, and laws
- Safely drive up to 650 miles per shift in urban and rural settings across all weather conditions
- Ability to use a handheld tracking device and paper logs during system downtime
- Ability to verify specimen labels and use good judgment when accepting items
- Ability to complete assigned work within designated route times
- Ability to communicate effectively with peers, lead staff, coordinators, and internal/external customers
- Ability to read daily email messages and keep abreast of operational changes
