About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform routine and specialized CT examinations
- Adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic and/or therapeutic results under the direction of a radiologist
- Prepare patients for examinations
- Perform CT radiographic and specialized procedures
- Assist radiologists with invasive procedures and sterile tray setup
- Order laboratory and pathology tests and schedule procedures
- Obtain and document pre- and post-procedure information
- Operate, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot CT equipment
- Report equipment problems through appropriate channels
- Maintain clean work areas and stock supplies
- Process films and paperwork promptly
- Coordinate patient flow and transport patients
- Complete exam data and procedure documentation in the HIS STAR Radiology system
- Maintain a safe environment and support QA, QC, and QI programs
- Train and guide fellow technologists and students
- Conserve resources and complete additional departmental assignments
Requirements
What you’ll need- Registered in Computed Tomography (CT) within 1 year – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Registered in Radiography (R) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days – American Heart Association (AHA)
- Licensed Radiologic Technologist – Radiography – Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
- Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology
- Associate's Degree in a related field
- Work experience in a related field
- Ability to perform routine and specialized CT examinations
- Knowledge of invasive procedures, sterile tray setup, catheters and guidewires
- Knowledge of CT equipment hardware and software, workstations, and printers
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment
- Ability to maintain patient and staff safety and follow JCAHO patient safety goals
