About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide diagnostic Computed Tomography services to inpatients, outpatients, and Emergency Department patients under the supervising radiologist
Provide safe, prompt, efficient, and cost-effective CT services
Position patients correctly and use proper immobilization techniques
Perform optimal scans using appropriate technical factors and protocols based on diagnosis and clinical information
Use ACR-compliant technical factors to minimize radiation while obtaining diagnostic scans
Follow CT technologist workflow, including patient identification, history and order verification, scanning, PACS transmission, Meditech completion, quality assurance, charging, and image archiving
Initiate IVs for administration of CT contrast media according to department policy and standard precautions
Prepare patients by explaining procedures, answering questions, and monitoring patient condition
Transport patients and assist with transfers on and off the CT table when necessary
Document patient history, lab values, allergies, surgical and dialysis history, charges, contrast media, supplies, reactions, extravasations, and unusual occurrences
Maintain supply inventory and notify ordering personnel when supplies need replenishment
Maintain patient confidentiality and perform other assigned duties

Requirements

What you’ll need

Registered in Computed Tomography (CT) within 1 year – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days – American Heart Association (AHA)
Licensed Radiologic Technologist – Radiography – Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA)
Registered in Radiography (R) – American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
College Diploma in a related field
Certificate of Completion in Radiologic Technology
Ability to work a rotating 3,12s schedule, rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call requirements
Experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model may affect actual compensation
