About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Function within the Emergency Department under the direction of the ED Physician and ED Resource Nurse
  • Maintain equipment and supplies and provide patient care under direct medical and nursing supervision
  • Answer call lights and provide comfort measures in coordination with nursing staff
  • Bring code cart to designated areas and perform cardiac compressions
  • Clean instruments and prepare them for sterilization
  • Obtain supplies and equipment for procedures
  • Document patient care and appropriate data in patient charts
  • Maintain department equipment
  • Perform wound irrigations, repairs, dressings, and surgical preparations under physician supervision
  • Prepare patients for transportation and assist with patient transport
  • Remove sutures from well-healed wounds under physician supervision
  • Assist nursing staff with direct patient care within ED Tech scope of practice
  • Suture wounds and apply splints under provider supervision
  • Assist triage, room placement, and patient transfers to facilitate patient throughput
  • Stock linen and medical supplies throughout the Emergency Department
  • Perform EKGs on Emergency Department patients

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Completion of an EMT or CNA Program
  • H.S. Diploma/GED
  • Part-time availability for 2–12-hour shifts per week
  • Ability to work every other weekend
  • Ability to work rotating holidays and shifts
  • No on-call requirement
