About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist in the preparation and distribution of food service to patients, employees, and visitors
- Work 50% of the workday on the tray line
- Rotate through department stations and perform duties assigned by the Food Service Lead
- Prepare and fill patient requests on the tray line
- Prepare and serve visually appealing food items
- Place selected food and beverages on patient trays
- Complete dish-room responsibilities, including washing, drying, stacking, and returning dishes and utensils
- Wash pots and pans used in food preparation
- Clean shelves, kitchen areas, plates, glasses, silverware, and other food-service areas
- De-lime the dishwasher according to schedule
- Unload patient food carts and dispose of garbage from patient trays
- Deliver safe and sanitary food to patients, the cafeteria, and special catered events
- Follow dress code and food-safety requirements
- Work cooperatively with hospital team members and support continuous quality improvement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Ability to work the evening shift, mostly 4:30p–8:30p, with some availability for other shifts
- Weekend availability required
- Holiday availability required
- Ability to perform food preparation and service duties
- Ability to use production tally sheets and read patient menus
- Ability to follow food safety, sanitation, glove, utensil, portion-size, and hair-restraint requirements
- Ability to work cooperatively with peers, food service leads, management, and hospital team members
- Professional conduct and ability to follow direction
