About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as the first impression to patients, families, employees, and visitors at UnityPoint Health-Methodist
- Staff guest relations coverage locations including the Main Hospital Entrance, Atrium Building, and Emergency Department
- Greet and welcome patients, visitors, and employees in a professional manner
- Assist visitors exiting vehicles and provide wheelchair assistance
- Safely park and return customer vehicles while retaining and managing keys
- Accurately document activities, client pickup times, and arrival times
- Drive departmental courtesy vans to transport patients between their homes and the medical center
- Provide safe, quality transportation and transport luggage
- Monitor assigned posts and nearby activities
- Perform simple cleaning and light housekeeping duties
- Respond to visitor requests, complaints, phone calls, and assistance needs
- Provide directions, escorts, and direct service or arrange assistance
- Coordinate with volunteer escorts for efficient patient and visitor transport
- Enforce smoking and parking policies
- Attend department meetings and training sessions
- Maintain readiness for unannounced state and national organization visitors and notify appropriate leaders
- Maintain professional appearance, demeanor, and vehicle-driving practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- Current Class D (State of Illinois) driver's license required
- Skill and ability to drive any motor vehicle of that class, including automatic and manual transmissions
- Maintains a clean driving record
- Completes yearly competency of special patient handling equipment
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
- Proper radio/phone communication techniques
- Knowledge of Medical Center locations for efficient directions and assistance
- Ability to provide minimal physical assistance to patients and transport patients using wheelchairs
- Ability to drive departmental courtesy vans
- Ability to work the scheduled day shift, 0830–1700
- Weekend requirements: No
- Holiday requirement: Not if it is an observed Carle-supported holiday
