About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Support licensed nursing staff under the direction of a Registered Nurse
- Perform personal care and hygiene activities for assigned patients
- Facilitate communication with departments, visitors, patients, medical staff, and employees
- Maintain unit supplies, including stocking nurse servers, cleaning instruments and equipment, ordering supplies, and making up charts
- Collect patient data and ensure accurate documentation
- Measure vital signs, monitor blood glucose, and measure and record intake and output
- Assist patients with activities of daily living
- Prepare patients for transportation and transport patients
- Complete the HCT Safety Checklist at the beginning of each shift
- Receive delegated responsibilities from the RN and communicate regarding task completion
- Complete and document basic patient care, including baths, vital signs, accuchecks, and meal trays
- Maintain patient safety through fall precautions, pressure ulcer prevention, isolation precautions, and ambulation safety
- Assist with high-volume patient admissions and discharges for the Observation patient population
- Promptly answer patient call lights to triage and meet patient needs
- Promote a positive, healthy work environment and healing patient environment
Requirements
What you’ll need- H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Worked as CNA within past 24 months
- Successful completion of Carle's HCT In Training Program
- Relevant medical military training
- Completion of CNA coursework within past 24 months
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)
- At least one semester of nursing clinical experience
- Ability to work dayshift
- Weekend requirement: every third weekend
- Holiday requirement: every other holiday
- On-call availability based on unit needs
