About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assess specimens for appropriate labeling, specimen type, and shipping conditions
- Perform laboratory testing according to established protocols, including chemistry, immunology, microbiology, and molecular testing
- Calibrate and perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and instrumentation
- Receive and process incoming specimens, including blood, urine, stool, and body fluids
- Maintain laboratory supply inventory and notify staff when supplies are below established levels
- Perform quality control and quality assurance procedures
- Participate in accreditation, proficiency testing, and annual performance competencies
- Communicate accurately, timely, effectively, and professionally with internal and external customers
- Notify appropriate staff of unresolved calibration or equipment failures
- Report values outside acceptable ranges that cannot be resolved
- Troubleshoot test result or instrument function problems and seek assistance when appropriate
- Perform testing in Chemistry and Microbiology sections using manual and automated equipment
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree in Science (Required)
- Performs high-complexity laboratory testing as assigned
- Able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Ability to perform testing in Chemistry and Microbiology sections
- Ability to use manual and automated laboratory equipment
- Ability to perform quality control and quality assurance procedures
- Ability to participate successfully in accreditation, proficiency testing, and annual performance competencies
- Ability to troubleshoot test result and instrument function problems
- Ability to work rotating weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts
- Work authorization verification through E-Verify and Form I-9
