About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide and manage patient care as a member of the interdisciplinary team through the nursing process
  • Assess patient status under RN supervision through interviews, observation, and physical assessment
  • Assist the RN in developing individualized plans of care with patients, families, and the healthcare team
  • Implement interventions and evaluate, document, and modify patient care plans
  • Complete patient charts and event reports
  • Troubleshoot clinical equipment and maintain technical knowledge
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members from admission through discharge
  • Prioritize assignments based on patient condition and changing circumstances
  • Delegate tasks appropriately and provide goal-focused shift reports
  • Advocate for patients with physicians when necessary
  • Educate patients and families using age-, cultural-, gender-, and developmentally appropriate strategies
  • Promote patient safety and follow National Patient Safety Goals
  • Participate in data collection, performance improvement initiatives, unit-based councils, and patient satisfaction efforts

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) licensed by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) within 30 days
  • Ability to work night shift: 3 twelve-hour shifts per week, 7:00 p.m.–7:30 a.m.
  • Weekend requirements: every other weekend
  • Holiday requirements: every other holiday
  • No on-call requirement
