About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist providers and clinical staff with obtaining vital information and preparing patients for examinations, treatments, and minor surgical procedures
- Obtain patient review of systems and history; measure and document vital signs
- Complete screening questions and necessary electronic medical record documentation
- Draw and collect blood and other samples and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis
- Carry out clinical orders, including administering medications and vaccinations orally or by injection
- Manage tracking systems for follow-up appointments, laboratory tests, procedures, results, and provider-directed follow-up
- Schedule specialist and outpatient referrals and complete referral and laboratory requisitions
- Provide timely documentation using standardized electronic medical record workflows
- Answer patient and family questions and provide education as directed by the provider
- Attend clinic and department meetings and stay informed through emails and the organizational intranet
- Prepare treatment rooms and assist healthcare professionals with examinations and procedures
- Complete clerical duties and other duties assigned by the Patient Care Manager
- Practice infection control standards and support compliance, quality, customer service, and effective office operations
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma/GED
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Complete tasks within scope of certificate, licensure, and competency
- Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, Safety and Risk Management guidelines
- Maintain compliance with Compliance, HIPAA, and personnel workplace rules
- Regular and consistent attendance
- Ability to perform basic rooming functions, including vital signs and screening questions
- Ability to draw and collect blood and other patient samples as required
- Ability to administer medications and vaccinations orally or by injection within scope of competency
- Knowledge of CPT/ICD-10 coding for referrals and lab testing
- Infection control standards
