About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Obtain registration information, insurance information and verification, and authorizations from new and established patients
  • Screen, schedule, and direct patients to appropriate providers and services
  • Provide information to patients by telephone and face-to-face
  • Check patients in for scheduled appointments
  • Facilitate up-front collection of co-payments
  • Accurately complete patient registration
  • Explain and complete registration and admitting forms and obtain required signatures
  • Manage cash drawer tasks and collect co-payments
  • Request, locate, send, and receive patient medical records
  • Receive incoming telephone calls
  • Check patients out promptly and courteously
  • Demonstrate customer service excellence and follow Carle policies and procedures
  • Attend meetings, demonstrate role competency, and suggest process improvements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Related field work experience
  • Ability to accurately complete registration for new and existing patients
  • Ability to explain and complete registration and admitting forms
  • Ability to obtain patient and policyholder signatures
  • Ability to perform cash drawer management and co-pay collections
  • Understanding of computer applications common to desk areas
  • Availability for as-needed shifts, including hours from 5:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays as needed
  • Availability for on-call requirements
