About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate and participate in daily clinic preparation
- Identify patients and perform patient check-in/check-out
- Post charges and manage cash
- Schedule patient appointments
- Register patients and set up accounts
- Handle phone calls and take/deliver messages to physicians, nurses, and others
- Accurately, completely, and timely report medical information from patients and referring physicians
- Distribute messages according to practice communication standards
- Manage incoming patient care requests, including in-basket activities, referrals, work queue activity, and incoming telephone calls
- Initiate and secure prior authorizations as needed
- Provide information and maintain a positive image to ensure patients' needs are met
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's Degree in a related field
- Experience in lieu of education is accepted
- Basic computer skills
- Competence with telephone systems
- Proficiency with insurance coverage rules, eligibility, network coverage, and benefits
- Successful completion of mandatory insurance training and ongoing competency refreshers
- Competence initiating and securing prior authorizations
- Professional, responsible conduct
- Ability to work Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.
- Day shift
