About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Welcome and assist patients, families and visitors as a central point of contact
- Provide non-medical information and help patients navigate their healthcare experience
- Communicate with patients empathetically and address questions and concerns
- Collaborate with healthcare team members and report patient/family concerns
- Answer, screen and route telephone calls
- Make, cancel and reschedule patient appointments
- Support digital patient communications through MyUnityPoint, text and other channels
- Gather, verify and enter demographic and insurance information into the electronic health record and patient accounting system
- Assist with charge capture and billing accuracy
- Collect payments, issue receipts and reconcile daily receivable activity
- Open and/or close the clinic according to guidelines
- Collaborate with support services to maintain a clean and welcoming environment
- Attend meetings, read emails and check the organizational intranet
- Monitor environmental conditions to protect health information
- Perform other duties requested by the Clinic Administrator
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's Degree in a related field OR related work experience in lieu of education
- Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work
- Maintain compliance with CLIA, OSHA, Safety and Risk Management guidelines
- Maintain compliance with Personnel policies and procedures
- Behave in a manner consistent with Corporate Compliance and HIPAA policies and procedures
- Demonstrate effective and caring communication skills and telephone techniques and etiquette
- Ability to gather, verify and enter demographic and insurance information
- Ability to collect payments, issue receipts and reconcile daily receivable activity
- Ability to make, cancel and reschedule patient appointments
- Work independently and complete assigned functions in a timely manner
- Participate in clinic/department meetings and monitor organizational communications
- Comply with work authorization requirements verified through E-Verify
