About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate and participate in daily clinic preparation
- Identify patients and perform patient check-in/check-out
- Post charges and manage cash
- Schedule patient appointments
- Register patients and set up accounts
- Make and manage phone calls and messages
- Accurately and promptly report medical information obtained from patients and referring physicians
- Distribute messages according to practice communication standards
- Manage incoming patient care requests related to in-basket activities, referrals, work queue activity, and incoming telephone calls
- Review and assist with night, weekend, and holiday staffing coverage
- Conduct oneself in a responsible and professional manner
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate's Degree in a related field, or related work experience in lieu of education
- Successful completion of mandatory insurance training and ongoing competency refreshers
- Proficient with insurance coverage rules, including eligibility, network coverage, and benefits
- Competent to initiate and secure prior authorizations as needed
- Competent in telephone systems
- Ability to work a Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. schedule
- Weekend requirements: Yes
- On-call requirements: Rotational
- Holiday requirements: Optional
